Summary:The aim of this study was to evaluate the health-related quality of life, the Coping Strategies, and the negative emotions in 28 patients of both genders with diagnosis of different types of cancer in chemotherapy treatment, of Medicancer's Institute from Medellin, Colombia. The questionnaires used were: EORTC QLQ-C30 that measures Life Quality, the CAE that evaluates Coping Strategies and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression (HAD) scale. Results showed a good quality of life both in the Functional extents and in that of disease symptoms. In relation to Coping Strategies, it was demonstrated that the avoidance coping and the Positive Reappraisal were most used, while the overt emotional expression that was the least used. Finally, clinical significant levels of anxiety-depression were not observed in the patients with cancer.
