Description
Summary:Superbrix is a company in the agro-industrial sector that requires, almost constantly throughout the year, to manufacture pipes for the filtering systems of its industrial processes. It currently has a duct production line linked with coated electric arc welding. By making the longitudinal sealing by welding too long is used and part of the anti-corrosion coating of the material is lost. The above indicates that the current process incurs increased costs due to the hiring of a specialized operator, the loss of coating and the high time spent in production. Taking into account its situation, the company requires redesigning the production process of the pipes, moving from its current process to one that does not require the use of welding in the longitudinal union of the pipe. To do this, a mechanical connection is used, which is faster and is expected to withstand the low air pressures that are handled in the filtering processes. The company also wants to create the machines needed to do this and expects to be able to increase total pipe production per year as well as reduce costs and work times. The purpose of this project is to present an alternative form of ducts that does not require welding in the longitudinal junction. A Pittsburgh mechanical junction consisting of three steps is used for this purpose. First a foil roll is required to give it the cylindrical shape of the duct. Secondly, the Pittsburgh type lashes should be created, which are folded at the edges of one male and one female at the ends of the sheet, and finally a seal that is where the joint is closed under pressure so that the pipe is hermetic.
