This doctoral research discusses and details the system and operation methods of different solar receivers (CSR) sharing a common heliostat field, leading to three contributions to the state-of-the-art: novel process configurations for concentrated solar power (CSP) generation systems suitable for (1) hybrid Brayton cycles and (2) regenerative Brayton cycles, and (3) a supervisory control strategy for the operation at varying conditions. In addition, results show the high potential of CSRs compared to the single receiver (SR) used as a reference due to a more uniform heat flux distribution at design conditions and more flexibility to operate at low irradiance (off-design) conditions. |
