En efecto, los gremios inmobiliarios nacionales (Fedelonjas y Camacol), relacionados con la actividad inmobiliaria, estiman que existen en el país cerca de 20’000.000 de inmuebles arrendados, destinados a servir de vivienda familiar, como unidad física para el funcionamiento de un establecimiento de comercio, como oficina para el ejercicio de una profesión y, en fin, para otras actividades relacionadas con el diario vivir de los colombianos.
