Description
Summary:The Corpacero company faced a problem when accidents began to occur around its metal forming machinery due to the lack of use of safety regulations and advanced security systems. The main protection mechanism for their machinery was adequate signage around the machinery, but the current emergency mechanism of the company is completely manual. A safety solution proposed by the engineers who undertook the project was the installation of a modernized guard for the machinery that covers the machine completely with an area of 36 square meters. This is to restrict access and the establishment of three steps for safety in the machine. The first step is the installation of proximity detection mechanisms to the guard with infrared sensors that detect movement outside the safety guard. In addition, for the start of machinery procedures, a human-machine interface will be installed to manage all the processes that will be carried out on the machinery, and facial and fingerprint biometrics will be required for access to manipulate the machinery, with only appropriate personnel having access to the machinery. The second and third instances consist of detection mechanisms inside the guard that, through artificial intelligence detection technologies, will determine if the process being carried out can generate harm to any individual who accesses the machinery. Inside the safety guard, there will be a high-speed motion detection camera that will determine if the process should be stopped or if it can continue normally, as well as a PIR sensor system that will have total control of the machinery and will stop the start of machinery operations or, if necessary, activate the machinery's emergency stop when detecting a relevant disturbance or detecting an individual in the safety guard. All mentioned criteria are under current safety engineering regulations.
