Summary:Currently in Barranquilla, companies of the metalworking industry such as Servimet S.A.S carry out the process of manufacturing caps for pressure tanks following the API 650 standard, by means of a hydraulic press, as a bulging machine; which works completely manually, so it is necessary to implement a mechanism that allows automating the process of bending the caps. All this in order to make this process more efficient and thus obtain improvements in the standardization of the caps, in the production times and, finally, to be able to reduce the risks to the operators when handling and operating the machine. From this, a business opportunity is observed where the undergraduate students of the Universidad del Norte have proposed to design a semi-automated mechanism as an efficient alternative and with a good economic margin for the benefit of the company; It is intended that this mechanism can be implemented in the machine to reduce the direct manipulation of the lid by the operators to a minimum, thus minimizing the possibility of accidents. A mechanism was designed that consists of 3 main systems: rotation, translation, inclination and elevation. Said mechanism that presents a great viability to be able to satisfy the requirements of the company, being adaptable to the different sizes of plates used by Servimet; Likewise, it has the advantage of easy maintenance thanks to the modular design of the mechanism. Within the project, a 3D model built in Solidworks software is delivered, as well as a technical sheet and the user manual. In the same way, economic, environmental and risk analyzes were carried out.
