From the perspective of the analysis of political speeches and political identities, the aim of this article is to reach a general understanding of the strategies of three important leaders of the PSDB opposing Lula during different controversial moments in his first rule. Thus, we will analyze the discourses of Geraldo Alckmin, José Serra and Fernando Henrique Cardoso, considering them as representatives of the characteristics assumed by this space of party opposition during the period. Through this analysis, it will be possible to understand the ways in which these leaders appear as differentiated with respect to Lula’s first rule. We will characterize these ways as: a) differentiation by denounce of the contradictions, b) differentiation by denounce of the corruption and inefficiency and c) differentiation by hierarchical and intellectual disqualification. The analysis of these forms of differentiation will allow us to understand the difficulties that these party leaders are confronted with in their aim to produce a relationship between the differentiations of their political space of opposition and the production of an extended sociopolitical representation in the national level. |

En este sentido, serán analizados los discursos de Geraldo Alckmin, José Serra y Fernando Henrique Cardoso como representativos de las características que asume este espacio de oposición partidaria durante el período. A partir de este análisis, resultará posible comprender las formas de diferenciación asumidas por estos líderes frente al primer gobierno de Lula, que caracterizamos como: a) diferenciación por denuncia de las contradicciones, b) diferenciación por denuncia de la corrupción y la ineficiencia y c) diferenciación por descalificación jerárquica e intelectual. El análisis de estas formas de diferenciación nos permitirá comprender las dificultades enfrentadas por estos líderes partidarios para generar una vinculación entre la constitución de su espacio opositor y la producción de una extendida representación sociopolítica a nivel nacional. / Do ponto de vista da análise do discurso e das identidades políticas, o artigo tem a pretensão de promover uma compreensão das estratégias de oposição de três importantes lideranças do PSDB durante as conjunturas de controvérsia no primeiro mandato do governo Lula (2003-2006). Será realizada uma análise dos discursos de Geraldo Alckmin, Jose Serra e Fernando Henrique Cardoso, como representantes das características que assume esse espaço de oposição partidária durante o período. Após dessa análise, pode ser possível a compreensão das formas de diferenciação assumidas pelos líderes frente ao primeiro governo Lula, que nos caracterizamos como: a) diferenciação por denúncia das contradições, b) diferenciação por denúncia da corrupção e da ineficiência e c) diferenciação por desqualificação hierárquica e intelectual.
