From them, organizational values,beliefs, and entrepreneurial activities are forged with which the market orientation isbuilt. For doing do, the research was developed based on a relativistic approach. Theresearcher was in the enterprise during three months applying interviews, doing nonparticipant and participation observations and applying some measure scales.A través del estudio, análisis y comprensión de los valores del fundador,la cultura organizacional y la orientación al mercado, se formuló un modeloexplicativo en una empresa familiar del sector de servicios que se encuentraen el paso de la primera a la segunda generación. El modelo tiene como puntode partida los valores del fundador, con base en los cuales se forjan en la empresalos valores organizacionales, las creencias y las prácticas empresariales;aspectos que su vez estructuran la orientación al mercado de la empresa.
