Summary: | For the implementation of a public transport system it is important to take into account different sequential processes to obtain a correct programming of the service, which optimizes the utilization of various resources, including time and money. This requires the determination of itineraries and work shifts that are appropriate to meet the desired level of service as well as current regulations. In this regard, a key aspect is the allocation and rotation that buses should have within the itineraries and to define which work shifts will correspond to them. In this project, yhis objective is pursued by using an approach based on mathematical models that help to propose solutions to achieve a higher level of equity and satisfaction of buses drivers and owners. Our methodology includes the use of techniques such as the algorithm of Branch & Price, while considering the respective space-time, organizational and legal constraints. The alorithm delivers the work shifts and then, the allocation of buses to each shift is undertaken by means of a mathematical programming model, which is solved by means of GAMS software. Finally, after the processing of the data, the assignment of each bus belonging to the COSTA AZUL fleet is obtained. In summary, our approach delivers the proposed shifts and rotation of the buses so that all requirements are met. |
