The objective of this paper is to analyze from the resource-based theory how a born global firm engages in international market. This empirical investigation has been carried out as an explorative single-case study, a high-tech firm, Digital Partner, based in Medellin, Antioquia. The main findings of the research show that organizational capabilities based on intellectual capital are crucial for the development of a born global. Thus, capabilities such as entrepreneurship, global vision, internationally market knowledge, learning management, IT capabilities, technological innovation, collaborative work, networks and customer orientation are recurrent and they correspond to other similar research results. Contributions of the study are both academic (for the advance of the research in born global field) and practical (for the design of governmental policies to foster born global firms). © Universidad Alberto Hurtado, Facultad de Economía y Negocios.engUniversidad Alberto Hurtadohttp://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?eid=2-s2.0-84944449834&partnerID=40&md5=b956388b776c755d1d2aa70151adb36eJournal of Technology Management and Innovation Volume 10, Issue 2, 2015, Pages 154-165ScopusBorn globals from the resource-based theory: A case study in ColombiaArticleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlehttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_2df8fbb1info:eu-repo/semantics/restrictedAccesshttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_16ecEconomics and Management Sciences, Universidad de Medellin, Carrera 87 N° 30-65, Medellín, ColombiaSchool of Management, Universidad EAFIT, Carrera 49 N° 7 Sur-50, Medellín, ColombiaDepartment of Business, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Edifici B, Campus UAB, Bellaterra, Barcelona, SpainTabares A.Alvarez C.Urbano D.Born global firmsIntellectual capital: case studyMedellin-colombiaResource-based theory11407/2302oai:repository.udem.edu.co:11407/23022020-05-27 15:55:38.811Repositorio Institucional Universidad de Medellinrepositorio@udem.edu.co |
