In conclusions, we observed a compensatory inequality in the municipalities studied due the criterion for delivering predominates transfers is the installed capacity and the watershed criterion above the reservoir criterion which is more closely related to the consumption of land, and is the most visible contribution of natural capital of the municipalities in hydroelectric settlements element.Este artículo presenta los resultados obtenidos en la investigación hecha en los municipios del oriente de Antioquia, en particular en San Carlos, sobre las transferencias que el sector eléctrico les entregó durante los años comprendidos entre 2000 y 2012, en razón del aprovechamiento extensivo de los recursos naturales de la región (aguas y tierras) que las empresas generadoras de energía hacen en las regiones con asentamientos hidroeléctricos. Como conclusión, se observó una inequidad compensatoria en los municipios estudiados, dado que el criterio que ha primado para la entrega de las transferencias es la “capacidad instalada” y el criterio de “cuenca” por encima del criterio de “embalse”.
