However, these efforts should be accompanied with the development of entrepreneurial capabilities in a wide range of ambits, among others, cross-cultural management. This chapter describes cultural influences in internationalisation activities of Medellin's small and medium enterprises based on original research results using descriptive multi-case methods within five companies and documentary review of business publications. It starts with an overview of the Colombian SME and cross-cultural management theories; then, the cultural influences on planning and internationalisation are listed, suggesting that systematic plans during internationalisation are not followed and technology tools are not properly seized due to management styles, a changing business environment, and small education levels. © 2013, IGI Global.engIGI Globalhttp://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?eid=2-s2.0-84898159036&partnerID=40&md5=a5b9ea076d653df67deb10cb3d5278c8Cultural and Technological Influences on Global Business, 2013, pp 365-383ScopusThe effects of culture on planning and technology in the internationalisation of Medellín's SMEsbookPartinfo:eu-repo/semantics/bookParthttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_3248info:eu-repo/semantics/restrictedAccesshttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_16ecUniversity of Medellín, ColombiaBustamante L.11407/1334oai:repository.udem.edu.co:11407/13342020-05-27 15:57:35.275Repositorio Institucional Universidad de Medellinrepositorio@udem.edu.co
