The Department for International Development model is applied to an urban zone with the purpose of making an assessment of the livelihood of the district 'la Comuna 1' in Medellin, Colombia, which has been recognised as the poorest and one of the most dangerous districts of the city. The case study presents both a quantitative analysis (macro) and qualitative (micro) analysis, as a mixed method that allows a more complete analysis and understanding of livelihood, and providing a deeper understanding of the district from the livelihood approach. The results indicate a stable growth of livelihood during the period of analysis. © 2015 Ciro Alfonso Serna Mendoza et al., published by De Gruyter Open.engWarsaw Universityhttp://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?eid=2-s2.0-84955558560&partnerID=40&md5=8e09ec24e9f70237b2d621a1daa06855Miscellanea Geographica Volume 19, Issue 4, 1 December 2015, Pages 9-20ScopusLivelihood assessment in district 1 of Medellin - ColombiaArticleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlehttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_2df8fbb1info:eu-repo/semantics/restrictedAccesshttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_16ecUniversidad de Manizales, PhD Program in Sustainable Development, ColombiaFaculty of Geography and Regional Studies, University of Warsaw, PolandInternational Relations and Business Group School As Economic and Administrative Sciences, Universidad de Medellin, ColombiaDepartment of International Business, Universidad de Medellin, ColombiaMendoza C.A.S.Czerny M.Pineda A.A.L.Rojas O.A.V.human developmentindexLivelihoodMedellinpovertyvulnerability11407/2291oai:repository.udem.edu.co:11407/22912020-05-27 17:50:04.397Repositorio Institucional Universidad de Medellinrepositorio@udem.edu.co
