Description
Summary:This paper addresses transitional justice experiences in South America, Central America, Europe, Africa and Asia to identify applicable contributions to transitional justice in Colombia. With an exploratory, descriptive and analytical methodology, the paper approaches the concept of transitional justice and the experiences of each of aforementioned regions to highlight that many of them have been concerned with establishing non - judicial measures in which truth is put above justice. Other cases in have focused on establishing judicial measures in which justice and victim compensation prevail. After analyzing these experiences, the research question “What are the transitional justice experiences’ contributions of other regions to transitional justice in Colombia?”, is answered. The paper concludes that Colombia should respect international standards and human rights and guarantee the recognition of the rights of victims to achieve a stable and lasting peace.
