Finalmente, se resalta la importancia de ampliar los estudios para este género y re-evaluar morfológica y taxonómicamente a los individuos pertenecientes a los complejos de especies encontrados.eng:Neotropical bats included in the genus Eptesicus comprise between 10 and 23 species that can be differentiated by body size, fur length, ear size, and development of the sagittal and lambdoidal crests. Recent phylogenetic analyses have identified Histiotus as a subgenus of Eptesicus, although both taxa were historically distinguished by notable external and cranial characteristics, requiring additional efforts to clarify the status of both groups. In Colombia, six species of Eptesicus (sensu stricto) and three of Histiotus have been documented. Morphometric characters and genetic data have been used for this purpose. However, the species richness in Colombia, especially of Eptesicus (s.s.), appears to be sub-documented. For this reason, postcranial characters such as baculum shape and additional morphometric analyses were explored to assess the presence of cryptic diversity. Due to the limited variation described among Eptesicus species, neotropical Eptesicus taxa were revised using morphological, morphometric, and molecular analyses to identify species complexes. The segregation of specimens described in recent years was supported through molecular tools, morphometrics, and distribution, and the description of a new character such as the baculum for some of these species provided additional support for the taxonomic separation. Some medium and small taxa still exhibited overlap in their external and craniodental measurements, especially in species that exhibit cryptic diversity. Finally, the importance of expanding studies for this genus and reevaluating morphological and taxonomic aspects of individuals belonging to the identified species complexes was emphasized.Introducción / 1.
