Description
Summary:This article examines the effect of the modernizing school in the configuration of collective views for Nature and Conservation in Valle del Cauca (Southwest of Colombia) between 1950 and 1970 based on the analysis of historical conditions, the review of the school textbooks used at that time and the narratives of the main characters. This analysis reveals the endorsement of the hegemonic vision of nature, which was founded on the dominant relationship between the human being with the environment; as well as the teleonomic approach towards nature, always put to the service of mankind.
