This paper contextualizes the contribution of the Arentine monk from a political perspective, within the framework of early Christianity and his search for unitary dogmas. From there a critical observation is raised to their results, relating their intentions to the subsequent development of their ideas; When Guido points out, the characteristics of his system give a boost to the Pythagorean approach to music, which unknowingly configures many of the principles that operate in our musical life today. With that goal in mind, we analyze what Guido did not do and how those shortcomings opened up the possibility of disfiguring his initial purposes.Pocas ideas han perdurado e impactado tanto en la historia de la música occidental como la propuesta de Guido de Arezzo en materia de notación musical, cercana a cumplir mil años desde su formulación inicial. En este trabajo se contextualiza el aporte del monje arentino desde una perspectiva política, en el marco del cristianismo primitivo y su búsqueda de dogmas unitarios. Desde ahí se eleva una observación crítica a sus resultados, relacionando sus intenciones con el desarrollo posterior de sus ideas; al señalar Guido las características de su sistema da un impulso al enfoque pitagórico de la música, con lo cual configura sin saberlo muchas de los principios que operan en nuestra vida musical de hoy.
