The text emphasizes on the nature of mediatic representations of modern warfare, from a perspective that stresses both the coverage of the war and their regimes of visibility. Finally, it shows the main trends in studies onn the coverage of the armed conflict in ColombiaEste artículo es un estado del arte sobre la relación entre medios de comunicación y guerra. Se ofrece una revisión crítica de los estudios que han abordado esta relación en contextos de confrontaciones armadas, donde las autoridades han ejercido presión sobre periodistas, medios de comunicación y opinión pública para imponer una visión hegemónica a favor de la causa armamentista. El texto hace énfasis en la naturaleza de la representación mediática de las guerras contemporáneas, desde una perspectiva que pone el acento tanto en la cobertura informativa de la guerra como en sus regímenes de visibilidad.
