An evaluation was conducted by means of a survey, which was applied to 19 public entities. The research was developed from an inductive perspective and through a descriptive, exploratory and correlational type of study. It is concluded that the IT governance is a reality for a small portion of these entities. It is expected that the results obtained will allow to develop joint plans between public universities and entities to generate further development of its IT governance and management.El objetivo del presente trabajo es la presentación de los resultados del estado y alcances del gobierno de TI y la gestión de TI en las entidades públicas de la ciudad de Manizales, Caldas, Colombia. Se realizó una evaluación por medio de encuesta, la cual que fue aplicada a 19 entidades públicas. Se desarrolló el estudio desde una óptica inductiva y con un tipo de estudio descriptivo exploratorio y correlacional. Se concluye que el gobierno de TI es una realidad para una pequeña porción de dichas entidades.
