Power balance towards china? Trump's foreign policy towards Asia Pacific

This article provides readers with a context about power fluctuations in the Asia Pacific region and the main reasons behind them, according to statements and forecasts by experts in International Relations. The article addresses the current balance of power in Asia Pacific, which has become a controversial issue by demonstrating signs of disruption given Trump's foreign policy in Asia and the reaction of China, driven by the US withdrawal of the former Transpacific Agreement. of Economic Cooperation (TPP). Power fluctuations have been encouraged in part by Trump's mandate and also by the consequence of Beijing reacting in his own favor; China is taking advantage of US foreign policy and its latent economic takeoff, with the purpose of improving Chinese positioning in the region by acquiring even more power. This article affirms that the balance of power in Asia Pacific is based on two main aspects: economic and military power, and also on alliances developed as a result of both. The United States provides protection to its allies (military power) while China provides investment (economic power).
