Kundry / Gabriel Latorre

Bajaban los cinco jinetes pausadamente la empinada cuesta al mañoso paso de sus cabalgaduras. La noche estaba clara ; iluminada discretamente por los rayos de una luna espléndida de melancólica belleza. Hacía frío. Soplaba suave y sin ruido la brisa de la montaña, llevando en sus alas aromas del monte vecino, que traían á la memoria reminiscencias de navidades lejanas, de infantiles excursiones en busca del musgo, de los helechos olientes y de las ramas de sauce para el humilde pesebre, donde, con los brazos extendidos el Niño-Dios sonreía á sus compañeritos prosternados. Serían cosa de las diez cuando los viajeros salieron de casa de Doña Clara, y una hora hacía ya que caminaban. Serenidad y quietud, una especie de místico silencio reinaban en torno. Era el mes á un mismo tiempo triste y dulce de Diciembre...
