Summary:We present here a brief critical review of the current university academic world of music theory and analysis regarding its study, teaching, knowledge production, historical and other aspects related to cooperation with other sciences; specialized musical lexicography and other possible objects of study relevant to the broad field of our discipline. The author has been a teacher, researcher-tigador, orchestral and choral conductor, composer and trader of music theory and analysis. The initial form of this article was an interview with the author by Professor Tomás Díaz Villegas to be published in the magazine A misfortune.
