With this objective, 167 semi-structured interviews were conducted with millennials who work at 10 Colombian companies from the manufacturing and service sectors, located in the 5 main cities of the country. With a qualitative approach in the interviews, the research team used a strategy inspired by the technique of generating visual structures associated with grounded theory. It is concluded that new generations of Colombian workers know of the importance of rewards and autonomy in work and are more critical and less passive in the face of unhealthy working conditions. At the same time, their conduct and speeches are the consequence of the characteristics of the Colombian labour market. The document responds to the need to deepen the debates on welfare and happiness in organizations and to include the demands of millennials in the reflective and political horizon of the ideas of healthy employment and decent work. In practice, this article seeks to demystify ideas about millennials in Colombia and critically contribute to reflection on intergenerational relations in organizations and salary and welfare models. As a Latin American case, it is an original contribution that avoids the common places and the frivolity with which the insertion of the new generations into the working world has been analysed.engUniversidad EAFITEscuela de Economía y FinanzasDecent work and healthy employment: a qualitative case study about Colombian millennialsworkingPaperinfo:eu-repo/semantics/workingPaperDocumento de trabajo de investigacióndrafthttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_b1a7d7d4d402bccehttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_8042Acceso abiertohttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2Millennial workersjob satisfactionemployee involvementColombiadgonzal8@eafit.edu.coggarci24@eafit.edu.cojromanca@eafit.edu.coGallo, Oscar52af4c59-606c-4d50-a516-87b5edcb89c0-1Gonzales Miranda, Diego Renée9ef49e4-f3fb-4957-b971-c230a7e5277d-1García, Gustavo Adolfo250612c6-45bd-435f-916d-eb6534ff3ece-1Roman Calderon, Juan Pabloc597d3c5-44f5-4c9e-b09b-dee2d90332ee-1LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain; charset=utf-82556https://repository.eafit.edu.co/bitstreams/5b8e984c-ebb0-4a70-904a-c036769c10c9/download76025f86b095439b7ac65b367055d40cMD51ORIGINALWP-2020-13-Gustavo Garcia.pdfWP-2020-13-Gustavo Garcia.pdfapplication/pdf1066857https://repository.eafit.edu.co/bitstreams/8fcce637-1abd-4fa9-8811-40316852e372/downloadb5a823c27a7c1d042c81745e2fc83cb1MD5210784/16003oai:repository.eafit.edu.co:10784/160032024-12-04 11:48:56.824open.accesshttps://repository.eafit.edu.coRepositorio Institucional Universidad EAFITrepositorio@eafit.edu.co |
