Summary:This paper speciefies the professional competences (generic and specific) required by the colombian labor market for Business Managers. For this a quantitative, longitudinal and, descriptive research was conducted, wish uses techniques such as documental analysis and the fieldwork (surveys). This study starts from the narrative revision of academic and institutional documents on related topics associated with that and emphasizes on the application of questionnaire based on Alfa Tuning Latin America to two stakeholders related to management programs, at different moments, about to the most valued skills in managers. This study show that the Tuning Latin America model is a useful technique for evaluating competencies in the management field and is consolidated through the majority of the competences proposed by this model are considered as being significant on the part of survey respondents. This poses important challenges for the education in business management in Colombia, as a complement to the competences for a comprehensive formation, not only for work.
