The diversification of his investments, the innovation, and the creation of new firms, suggest that he was a true entrepreneur in the Schumpeterian sense of this term.Este artículo versa sobre la trayectoria empresarial del antioqueño Alejandro Echavarría Isaza desde su nacimiento, a mediados del siglo XIX, hasta su fallecimiento en 1928. Presenta como eje central la diversidad de sus negocios y la forma en que los asuntos de la vida familiar tuvieron relación con sus empresas y acciones económicas.
