This article describes the main changes in the dynamics of the Korean population since the 1960s (the decade in which large-scale family planning programs began to be implemented, as part of the economic development policies of the five-year plans ); identifying two main characteristics of the demographic transition: changes in population distribution and population aging.El proceso de transición demográfica en la República de Corea, donde las altas tasas de mortalidad que se mantuvieron hasta los años posteriores a la Guerra disminuyeron significativamente, seguidas de la reducción de tasas de fecundidad, fue moldeando las dinámicas y la distribución de su población, la cual experimentó un proceso de expansión y posterior envejecimiento.
