Summary:The present work emerged as a proposal to counteract the lack of repertoire of Colombian composers focused on the stages of piano initiation for students of any age. In accordance with this purpose, pieces for this instrument were commissioned to composers of the Department of Music of the EAFIT University, for which they had to comply with particular guidelines so that the works could be categorized into five levels. This article gives a brief tour of the background of the repertoire for piano initiation and music education in Colombia. It also includes the pedagogical analysis of the selected pieces of each level and suggestions for the application of the methodology.
