El estudio se realizó a partir de una mirada comparada entre el barrio La Sierra, ubicado en la comuna 8 del municipio de Medellín, y el barrio 19 De abril, situado en la comuna 3 del municipio de Itagüí. Se efectuó un rastreo histórico de los barrios, la incursión de las dinámicas de violencia y los actores armados, y la construcción de iniciativas comunitarias para la paz y el rescate de prácticas barriales. This study showed that in the conflictive contexts in which the territories are challenged, the figure of the state apparatus is strongly displaced by criminal or illegal structures in their functions of social control, and it is the community itself that gives them the legitimacy to carry out these functions. The study was based on a comparative view of the La Sierra neighborhood, located in commune 8 of the municipality of Medellín, and the 19 De abril neighborhood, located in commune 3 of the municipality of Itagüí. A historical tracing of the neighborhoods, the incursion of the dynamics of violence and armed actors, and the construction of community initiatives for peace and the rescue of neighborhood practices were carried out.
