But what does this statement refer to? What do we mean when we talk about the “fall”? Different hypotheses have been tacitly accepted as an explanation, the main ones being demographic changes, rising tuition prices, and a decrease in family income. But how true are they and how much do they impact the fall? This paper establishes a methodology that allows addressing the response through a quantitative approach in the exploratory and descriptive analysis of administrative data from official entities in Colombia. It was found that the hypotheses related to the socio-economic environment and financing better explain the fall and contraction of demand in higher education.application/pdfspaUniversidad EAFIThttps://publicaciones.eafit.edu.co/index.php/ecos-economia/article/view/6939/5155https://publicaciones.eafit.edu.co/index.php/ecos-economia/article/view/6939/5155Copyright © 2021 Carlos Rincón Quiñones, Andrés Felipe Espitia SuárezAcceso abiertohttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2Ecos de Economía, Vol 24, No. 51 (2020)Colombia's Higher Education at Risk: Where are the Students?La educación superior de Colombia en riesgo: ¿dónde están los estudiantes?info:eu-repo/semantics/articlearticleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionpublishedVersionArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_2df8fbb1EnrollmentHigher educationFinancingTuition pricesEconomy of educationRincón Quiñones, CarlosEspitia Suárez, Andrés FelipeUniversidad Jorge Tadeo LozanoEcos de Economía2451428ORIGINALLaeducaciónsuperiorde coLombiaenriesgo.pdfLaeducaciónsuperiorde coLombiaenriesgo.pdfTexto completo PDFapplication/pdf804162https://repository.eafit.edu.co/bitstreams/f982a4d7-9cd9-4baf-900b-b441df47fcdd/downloadb511d42867d6ddd2e3ad610a99ff9988MD51Colombia's Higher Education at Risk.htmlColombia's Higher Education at Risk.htmlTexto completo HTMLtext/html292https://repository.eafit.edu.co/bitstreams/97cc5602-0956-47c0-a75e-2cb9a2326164/download1781cbfe2eadbc55a817315c868665deMD53THUMBNAILminaitura-ecos_Mesa de trabajo 1.jpgminaitura-ecos_Mesa de trabajo 1.jpgimage/jpeg251248https://repository.eafit.edu.co/bitstreams/2b2a8c5b-10c4-4f41-8563-10f72899d501/download9b15d674b076c1793a0bc25cebb1bcefMD5210784/30399oai:repository.eafit.edu.co:10784/303992022-05-16 03:43:45.784open.accesshttps://repository.eafit.edu.coRepositorio Institucional Universidad EAFITrepositorio@eafit.edu.co
