Description
Summary:This article highlights the philosophical aspects of writer Hernando Téllez’s (1908–1966) self-investigation in his essayistic works. This allows us to recognize the hybrid and open nature of the essay genre, which enables Téllez’s reflections to inhabit an indiscernible space between literature and philosophy, mutually enriching the two forms of thought. It is concluded from the findings that it is necessary to reinterpret the period prior to the professionalization of philosophy in Colombia not only as a period of transition toward modernization but also as a period of literary and philosophical reflection with its own grammar of creation, relationship, and dissemination of ideas.
