En esta obra la tesis es la siguiente: es indemostrable que las leyes causales existen, y es indemostrable que probablemente existen. Preguntémonos ¿por qué es importante para la filosofía saber si las leyes causales existen? O ¿saber si ellas al menos probablemente existen? Para entender su importancia, recurrimos a la definición de “Metafísica de la Ciencia”. La Metafísica de la Ciencia es un estudio filosófico, investiga la realidad de las nociones científicas más generales. Por ejemplo, un metafísico de la ciencia se hace preguntas como: (1) ¿Existen los tipos naturales?, (2) ¿Existe un mundo independiente de la existencia humana?, (3) ¿Existen las leyes naturales?, (4) ¿Existen las leyes causales? Etc. Nuestro objetivo en esta obra es probar que las leyes causales son hipótesis metafísicas posibles, pero no verificables empíricamente, ni demostrables por deducción, ni por probabilidad. |
