Sin embargo, esta actividad ha experimentado una considerable disminución debido a su poca rentabilidad, los impactos ambientales asociados y el cumplimiento del ciclo de vida productiva de las minas. Este declive ha generado una situación precaria en cuanto a la capacidad laboral y productiva en las comunidades del Suroeste Cercano Antioqueño. A pesar de ello, el cierre de las minas ha dejado un legado histórico y un patrimonio minero que, junto con la riqueza geológica del territorio, representan potenciales puntos de interés turístico. Esta situación brinda una oportunidad estratégica para impulsar el desarrollo económico de la región a través del geoturismo y el mineroturismo. El proyecto comenzó con una revisión bibliográfica de los sitios de interés geológico y minero en estos municipios. Posteriormente, se identificaron aquellos lugares que permiten el estudio e interpretación del origen y evolución de la geología de la zona, tales como el Sinclinal de Amagá, la Columna de Palomos, Cerro Bravo y Cerro Tusa. Luego, se empleó la metodología de valoración del patrimonio geológico y paleontológico inmueble propuesta por el Servicio Geológico Colombiano. Esta metodología permitió evaluar el valor científico, educativo y cultural de los sitios, así como analizar su susceptibilidad a la degradación, tanto de origen natural como antrópica, esto con el objetivo de estimar el grado de prioridad que cada sitio posee en términos de protección y conservación. Finalmente, se desarrolló un geoportal utilizando el conjunto de softwares de ArcGIS, este geoportal facilita el acceso a la información relacionada con la geología y los puntos de interés geológico y minero a las comunidades del Suroeste Antioqueño. Los sitios de interés geológico y minero evaluados presentan un alto valor científico o patrimonial, así como un alto valor educativo y un valor cultural medio, con la excepción de Cerro Tusa, que posee un valor científico o patrimonial muy alto. Este análisis demuestra que el Sinclinal de Amagá, la Columna de Palomos, Cerro Bravo y Cerro Tusa tienen las características necesarias para ser reconocidos como geotopos. Este reconocimiento no solo destaca su importancia, sino que también abre la puerta a oportunidades de desarrollo económico mediante el geoturismo y el mineroturismo. Por otro lado, debido principalmente a la extensión de estos sitios, no se considera necesario implementar medidas de geoconservación, con la excepción de la Columna de Palomos, que abarca un área decamétrica y demanda medidas de geoconservación a corto plazo.ABSTRACT: the municipalities of Amagá, Fredonia and Venecia have historically been areas where small-scale mining, mainly for coal, has been practiced for more than a century. However, this activity has experienced a considerable decline due to its low profitability, the associated environmental impacts, and the fulfillment of the productive life cycle of the mines. This decline has generated a precarious situation in terms of labor and productive capacity in the communities of Suroeste Antioqueño Cercano. Despite this, the closure of the mines has left a historical legacy and a mining heritage that, together with the geological richness of the territory, represent potential points of tourist interest. This situation provides a strategic opportunity to boost the economic development of the region through geotourism and mineral tourism. The project began with a bibliographic review of the sites of geological and mining interest in these municipalities. Subsequently, those sites that allow the study and interpretation of the origin and evolution of the geology of the area were identified, such as Sinclinal de Amagá, Columna de Palomos, Cerro Bravo and Cerro Tusa. Then, the methodology for valuation of immovable geological and paleontological heritage proposed by the Colombian Geological Service was used. This methodology made it possible to evaluate the scientific, educational and cultural value of the sites, as well as to analyze their susceptibility to degradation, both natural and anthropogenic, in order to estimate the degree of priority that each site has in terms of protection and conservation. Finally, a geoportal was developed using the ArcGIS software suite, this geoportal facilitates access to information related to geology and points of geological and mining interest to the communities of Suroeste Antioqueño. The evaluated sites of geological and mining interest have a high scientific or heritage value, as well as a high educational value and a medium cultural value, with the exception of Cerro Tusa, which has a very high scientific or heritage value. This analysis demonstrates that Sinclinal de Amagá, Columna de Palomos, Cerro Bravo and Cerro Tusa have the necessary characteristics to be recognized as geotopes. This recognition not only highlights their importance, but also opens the door to economic development opportunities through geotourism and mineral tourism.
