La buena economía que tiene el sector fomenta el crecimiento del flujo vehicular en relación con la carente infraestructura de vías que posee, que en principio fue diseñada para una menor cantidad de viajes, siendo desconocedores del futuro crecimiento que tendría la comuna. Siendo más precisos, la intersección de La Aguacatala es una obra construida hace más de 20 años y no cuenta con intervenciones significativas que pretendieran mejorar las condiciones de esta. A diario, más de 5000 viajes son realizados desde zonas del sur-occidente hacia el Poblado, siendo este punto uno de los pocos cruces sobre el río existentes. Dada esta realidad, es recurrente observar embotellamientos tanto en los ramales de acceso y salida, como en la glorieta, lo que genera inconformidades entres los usuarios de la intersección y los habitantes del sector. Con el presente trabajo se pretende estudiar las condiciones actuales de la glorieta e identificar los componentes más representativos de esta, para luego generar un modelo que represente estas características y obtenga un comportamiento similar al real. Dicho modelo fue validado mediante indicadores de bondad que son evaluados conforme al contexto del sector de estudio. Este modelo es la base para la construcción de alternativas que buscan, mediante la modificación de la infraestructura física, mejorar la movilidad del punto de interés. Para realizar la comparación entre las alternativas, se evalúa el desempeño de cada una con aforos proyectados a 15 años siendo comparadas con el modelo base y también con los volúmenes vehiculares proyectados. Esta evaluación tiene en cuenta factores de operación, aplicabilidad y medioambiente. Como resultado final, se presenta la alternativa que mayor puntaje obtuvo en el análisis multicriterio y se hicieron conclusiones sobre dicha propuesta ganadora, de las características que otorgaron el valor agregado y sobre la relevancia que pueden tener estas características o especificaciones clave para la aplicación en otros trabajos y estudios.ABSTRACT: In Medellín, Antioquia, Commune 14 El Poblado has been the epicenter of an accelerated growth of its population and the automotive park. The good economy that the sector has encourages the growth of the vehicle flow in relation to the lacking infrastructure of highways that it has, which in principle was designed for a smaller amount of trips, being unaware of the future growth that the commune would have. Being more precise, the intersection of La Aguacatala is a work built more than 20 years ago and it does not have significant interventions that sought to improve its conditions. Every day, more than 5000 trips are made from south-western areas to El Poblado, being this point one of the few existing crossings over the river. Given this reality, it is recurrent to observe traffic jams both in the access and exit branches, as well as in the roundabout, which generates discontent among the users of the intersection and the inhabitants of the sector. This work aims to study the current conditions of the roundabout and identify the most representative components of it, and then generate a model that represents these characteristics and obtains a behavior similar to the real one. This model will be validated by means of goodness indicators that are evaluated according to the context of the study sector. This model will be the basis for the construction of alternatives that seek, through the modification of the physical infrastructure, to improve the mobility of the point of interest. To make the comparison between the alternatives, the performance of each one is evaluated with capacity projected to 15 years being compared with the base model and also with the projected vehicle volumes. This evaluation takes into account operational, applicability and environmental factors.
