Este tema es especialmente valioso en el sector sin ánimo de lucro, pues permanentemente se escucha hablar de organizaciones en crisis financiera buscando resolver este problema únicamente a partir de prácticas financieras como la generación de ingresos propios de manera desordena y sin una previa planeación. Muchas veces éstas no tienen los resultados esperados, demostrando así la carencia de otros mecanismos complementarios, que junto a éstas garantizarán tan anhelada estabilidad. Dentro de estos mecanismos, la planeación estratégica establece la base fundamental, determinando la misión y objetivos de la organización y a través de la creación de estrategias se encaminarán las actividades necesarias para generar valor de manera sostenible en cada uno de los procesos que componen su estructura. Sin embargo, se requiere que adicionalmente los recursos disponibles en la organización sean analizados para implementar las estrategias elegidas. Por esta razón, es importante llevar a cabo una correcta planeación financiera que permita traducir a cifras las acciones descritas en el plan estratégico. Al encontrarse una falta de estos recursos, la diversificación de ingresos será fundamental en la búsqueda de la sostenibilidad, pues disminuirá el riesgo de dependencia de la organización en pocos donantes y permitirá así el desarrollo de su misión. Lo anterior no es suficiente, pues deben existir mecanismos de apoyo que ayuden a maximizar el aprovechamiento de los recursos y asegurar la transparencia en el manejo de éstos. Los procesos y sus interacciones deben formar un conglomerado de acciones que se despliegan continuamente en la organización en función de una voluntad colectiva que está orientada al cumplimiento de las estrategias que surgen normalmente de un análisis de la posición de la organización en el entorno, en el cual compite con otros agentes para la captación de recursos que la harán sostenible en el futuro. Las estrategias tienen su origen en la planeación y se despliegan través de unos procesos internos bien definidos y documentados que atienden las necesidades y expectativas de una comunidad y buscan obtener una sostenibildad financiera que posibilite hacer crecer la organización hacia las metas trazadas.ABSTRACT Nowadays market characteristics, competitivity and globalization demand that organizations on any given sector to use creative and innovative mechanisms to adapt easily to any change, this to achieve one of their top goals: Financial Sustainability. This subject is especially valuable for the non- profit sector. Very often people hear about this type of organizations going through financial crisis situations, and trying to solve them just by using financial practices. Many times these practices do not have the aspired results and show the lack of using complementary mechanisms, which would provide such yearned stability. Among those, strategic planning stands the foundation. It establishes the fundamental principles, which determine the organization’s mission and their objectives. Through strategy creation, necessary activities are directed to generate value in a sustainable manner in each one of the processes that form the organizations structure. None the less, additional available resources from the organization are required, and shall be analyzed to implement the selected strategies. Because of this it is important to carry a correct financial planning that allows translating the actions described in the strategic plan into numbers. When encountering a lack of these resources, the income diversification will be fundamental for the search of sustainability because it will reduce the risk of dependency from the organization on a few donors and will therefore allow the development of the mission. The previous statement is not enough; supporting mechanisms must exist to help insure an honest management of the resources and maximizing their use. The processes and their interactions must form a cluster of actions that unfurl continuously in the organization around a collective will oriented to strategy fulfillment, that arises commonly from an analysis of organizations position compared in the environment in which it competes with other agents for the resource raising, that is ultimately what will make the organization sustainable in the future.
