Es posible evidenciar daños a nivel estructural y no estructural debido a asentamientos, inestabilidad del terreno y a procesos de cambios volumétricos del suelo. Este trabajo pretende encontrar alternativas de intervención a esta problemática basándose en el caso específico que se presenta en el bloque norte de la Institución Educativa Rural Chaparral del municipio de Guarne, para esto se realizaron estudios geotecnicos basicos para determinar parámetros geomecaicos del suelo, así como un seguimiento de las fisuras que presenta la estructura. Con los estudios realizados se logró determinar que el problema de fisuración se debe principalmente a dos factores, la estructura no cuenta con una cimentación adecuada por lo que no se da una transmisión de cargas adecuada, además a un costado del bloque de estudio se apoya sobre un talud conformado por un relleno antropico, el cual no es apto para soportar cargas, finalmente se proponen alternativas de solución que permitan mejorar la estabilidad del talud y la transmisión de cargas del sistema estructural, tomando como opción de repotenciación para las cimentaciones una tipología de “underpining” la cual se implantaría con diferentes opciones que mejoren la respusta del suelo a la carga.ABSTRACT: in Colombia, specifically in Antioquia, some studies conducted in various rural educational institutions show that a significant number of school buildings in rural areas are affected due to foundation-related issues. It is possible to observe both structural and non-structural damage due to settlements, soil instability, and volumetric changes in the soil. This work aims to find intervention alternatives to address this problem, based on the specific case presented in the northern block of the Chaparral Rural Educational Institution in the municipality of Guarne. For this purpose, basic geotechnical studies were conducted to determine soil geo-mechanical parameters, as well as monitoring the cracks in the structure. The studies carried out allowed to determine that the cracking problem is mainly due to two factors. Firstly, the structure does not have an adequate foundation, which results in improper load transmission. Additionally, on one side of the study block, it is supported by a slope consisting of anthropogenic filling, which is not suitable for bearing loads. Finally, solution alternatives are proposed to improve the stability of the slope and the load transmission of the structural system.
