El uso de la trazabilidad permite además de servir como apoyo para el mantenimiento y soporte del sistema, validar la correcta elicitación de los requisitos planteados por el usuario, asegurar un correcta interpretación de estos por parte de todo el equipo de trabajo, tomar acciones correctivas durante el ciclo de desarrollo entre otros. La trazabilidad al no ser una práctica muy utilizada por las organizaciones exige proveer a estas de un conjunto de características y estrategias que permitan aplicarla de forma correcta, de esta manera poder asegurar el éxito y que realmente su correcta implementación brinde los beneficios de calidad, conocimiento y eficiencia que esta trae. Un buen desarrollo de la práctica de trazabilidad debe tener características como: modelamiento detallado de los requisitos, inicio de la práctica desde las fases iniciales del ciclo de vida, clasificación temprana de los requisitos, seguimiento y control del proceso y la inclusión de actividades propias de la práctica de trazabilidad donde se incluye todo el manejo de herramientas propias. Todas estas características garantizaran en un alto porcentaje que realmente exista un beneficio con esta. Es indispensable resaltar la necesidad de incluir los requisitos no funcionales y asuntos transversales al desarrollo de la práctica, debido que representan igual importancia y su efecto sobre el sistema puede afectar tanto como los funcionales el funcionamiento adecuado de este. La implementación de la práctica de trazabilidad se puede facilitar o su ejecución se vera de cierta forma beneficiada mediante la utilización de ciertas estrategias como lo es una adecuada definición de roles, uso de repositorios, creación de la figura de interventor dentro del equipo de trabajo y manteniendo una buena comunicación y ambiente agradable en el desempeño de las labores. Finalmente debemos comprender que cualquiera de las tareas que se realicen en el desarrollo de software serán exitosas en la medida que se les de el grado se formalidad suficiente y se trabaje de la forma más profesional posible, ya que la trazabilidad no es una excepción a esta regla.Abstract: Traceability refers to the abilty to trace the life of a requirement through out the life cycle until its implementation as a software component. The use of traceability allows besides serving as support for maintenance of the system, validate the correct elicitation of the requirements propose by the users, insurance a correct interpretation of these by all the team work and take actions of improvness during the development cycle. Traceability is not currently a practice that is very common inside the organizations, this condition requires to give some characteristics and strategies that allow to apply in a better way the use of traceability, so the success and a really good implementation gives the benefits of quality, knowledge and efficiency that brings the practice. A good development of the practice of traceability may have characteristics such as: detailed modeling of the requirements, early beginning of the practice in the different phases of the life cycle, early classification of the requirements, following and control the process and the inclusion of activities that are properly of traceability where all the management of the tools is included. All the characteristics can guarantee a higher percentage that a real benefit may exist. It s important to make sure that is necessary to include non functional requirements and transversal aspects in the practice, because these requirements have the same importance and the effects on the system can be the same or worst to the proper operation of the application. The implementation of traceability can be easier or the execution can be in some way better through the use of some strategies such as: having a good definition of roles, use of a datawarehouse, creating the figure of an inspector inside the team work, and having a good relationship and communication among all the members of the team.
