Financial evolution of the Santander's manufacturing sector between 2016 and 2021

In the history of economic development in Santander, manufacturing participates a critical role, according to the departmental economic and commercial profile offered by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism of Colombia, in the composition of the GDP of the department of Santander. Manufacturing industries contribute 16.5% of the total. Consid-ering the above, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the particularities of the economic/financial dynamics of the manufacturing companies of Santander between the years 2016-2021. The descriptive quantitative method was applied in 24 industrial subsectors to achieve this goal, identifying the behaviour of assets, liabilities, equity, sales, and profits. Based on the above, the results show the economic growth of most of the subsectors in the period investigated. The evolution of enterprises between 2017 and 2020 has registered an increase in the survival rate.
