Description
Summary:In the present investigation, the relationship between the dimensions of family functionality proposed by the circumplex model with the practice of the cutting in a sample of adolescents from 12 years old to 18 years old, belonging to two public schools of the municipality of Soledad - Atlántico was analyzed. To achieve this objective, the quantitative method of non-experimental design, the correlational scope of transverse temporality, and the type of convenience sampling were used. The following instruments were used to collect the data: Scale of Adaptability and Family Cohesion (FACES III), and the Parental-Adolescent Communication Scale (PACS) in its dimensions: Communication of the adolescent with the mother and communication of the adolescent the father. As results, it was found that there is a statistically significant relationship between the variables of cohesion and practice of cutting, the variables of adaptability, communication with the father and the mother are not related to the practice of cutting in adolescents between 12 and 18 years belonging to the two public educational institutions of the municipality of Soledad - Atlántico. According to the results obtained in this study, it was possible to conclude that family cohesion is a risk factor for self-injurious practice in adolescents between 12 and 18 years of age
