Description
Summary:The present project was based on the need to establish and know the main causes why lead-acid batteries do not have satisfactory results in the electrical tests that are the object of study: Reserve Capacity and Cold Cranking Capacity. For this, it was necessary to do a retrospective and statistical analysis of the results of these tests over a period of 2 years in Willard S.A. In order to comply with this analysis, it was necessary to know in detail the manufacturing process of lead acid, the quality controls present in each of the stages of the process and the implications of non-compliance with the specifications defined in the final product. In the same way, through the implementation of the Delphi method and the participation of professional and technical experts of the company, it was possible to determine which are the factors that could mainly influence the expected electrical result and in this way begin to deepen them to evaluate its influence and later with this diagnosis define measures of operational improvements to control the good performance of these factors. The interviews with the experts showed the opportunity of this work, due to the absence of absolute certainty about the factors that influence and therefore this study allows the organization have objective and statistical tools to be able to guarantee conforming results and consistent in time for these electrical tests. Finally, it was possible to show how the electrical results of reserve capacity are closely with the factors, as well as the almost zero influence that the identified factors have on the cold cranking test results.
