Summary: | The present study proposes the evaluation of the quality of water for human consumption at regional level in the department of Atlántico. For this, first, samples were collected in the twenty-three (23) municipalities that make up the department. The sample collection points were determined taking into account the regulations defined by Resolution 0811 of 2008, then selecting 3 sampling points; the first at the point closest to the distribution network, the second at the furthest point, and the third at a point with high population density in each municipality. The collected samples allowed a characterization of the relevant physical, chemical and microbiological parameters to assess the Water Quality Risk Index, evaluating a total of eighteen (18) characteristics. The results of laboratory analysis obtained showed that in general the quality of the water in the different municipalities of the department was for the period of 2016, it was 53.63, classifying it with a high level of risk and for 2018 this showed a value of 20.09 cataloging it with an average level of risk, an improvement was found in 2018 compared to 2016, which is attributed to maintenance performed by a company in charge of treatment and distribution of drinking water, as stipulated by Resolution 2115 of 2007 of the characteristics evaluated. they qualify to be water not suitable for human consumption in both years of study.., After this comparison, the Water Quality Risk Index of each municipality was calculated, as a measure to calculate the magnitude of the potential risk to which the inhabitants of the Atlantic department are exposed in terms of their drinking water. From this, it was possible to georeference through the ArcGIS program the results obtained, this to delimit a risk map, through the guidelines given by Resolution 4716 of 2010; that facilitates the recognition of strategic points where water quality is suitable for consumption within the study area. Finally, recommendations were proposed for those areas where it was estimated that drinking water could have health repercussions. |
