Summary:The objective of this work is to identify through observation, the elements of academic training that can contribute to the competitiveness in the future professionals of accounting at the Universidad de la Costa. These elements are: The pedagogy (Extracurricular activities), the research and the internationalization, which are fundamental in the academic background of the learner, to be more competitive in the professional field, as to the demands of the employment market according to the technological, scientific and regulatory changes that occur in society. The research method used in this study is the inductive, because it aims to identify the causes and consequences of the problem to solve, what are the elements of academic training that can contribute to the competitiveness of future accounting professionals? This research work takes into account the results obtained through the instrument applied which was the interview, here we see that for the four (4) groups of interviewed who were: Professors, Students, Academic Faculty and Business Sector. Was detected that they agree on the importance of the academic elements which are: The pedagogy (extracurricular activity), the research and the internationalization. Finally, it cannot be divided and much less categorize or segment the elements of education that have been addressed throughout this investigation, because all three must be present and linked in order to have a proper academic background of learners and to finally have a competitive professional not only in the accounting field but in any profession.
