Summary:This research was made with the purpose of describing the relationship that exists between the implementation of the cooperative game as a teaching strategy and the strengthening of the problem solving in mathematics on elementary second grade students of nuestra señora del Rosario school , based on an approach qualitative introspective experiential, taking into account a socio-critical paradigm, it was also based on the theories of Jean Piaget, Cuicas, Chadwick, Polya, Omeñaca and Puyuelo. In order to make possible the data collection different techniques were used for this like : observation, semi-structured interview and a written test. implementing the instruments of the observation sheets, field diary, questionnaire, and a proficiency test, these were applied to 26 children at the school. This allowed to identify activities such as the cooperative game for solving mathematical problems. Concluding with this work, teachers should continue with the implementation of the cooperative game in mathematics in order to gain a better understanding in mathematics, because this strategy will allow acceptance and motivation in students. For this reason, the recommendations are directed to the training, formation and application of strategic techniques so that children, when are playing and interacting with other children , they can also be able to learn by having fun.
