Summary:The purpose of this research project was to determine the effect of Reading Fluency on the Critical Reading of 4th grade students at the Doctora Santa Teresita School of the Child Jesus in Sabanalarga Town in Department of Atlántico, It arises in response to the diagnostic analysis carried out in the educational institution of Sabanalarga (CODESA), which was evaluated in the external tests SABER from 2014 to 2017 for the 3° and 5° levels of the primary basic, obtaining results unfavorable in all components of the language test established by the Ministerio de Education Nacional de Colombia (MEN). This research was focused on the positivist paradigm, with a quasi-experimental design. On the other hand, the study of the population was made up of 40 students, as a technique the survey was used and the instrument was the questionnaire. Finally, it was obtained by means of the instruments and the developing activities in the program intervention that it was produced a positive response in the comprehension level of the students of fourth grade in Critical Reading. Analyzing that the results obtained in the Critical Reading postest that was applied the results that the students obtained were a Little better that in the pretest. For that reason, it recommends to continue fortifying the basic competences in Reading like the Reading Fluency and its related abilities.
