Description
Summary:The increase in student dropout rates in educational institutions, driven by various socioeconomic and health circumstances, has led to a rapid transition to virtual education as a measure to achieve competitiveness and success. Faced with this situation, educational institutions have been compelled to manage learning tools that enable students to adapt. In this context, it is crucial for institutions to design and implement assessment tools to identify variables affecting student dropout and tackle potential shortcomings in the well-being process. Given the significance of university dropout, this research focuses on the Faculty of Engineering at Universidad de la Costa between 2017 and 2022. The study aims to determine the factors influencing student dropout in the Faculty of Engineering through data analysis tools. Objectives include characterizing the population of students who left their studies, quantitatively analyzing the impact of various factors associated with dropout and proposing an explanatory mathematical model. The research is justified by the importance of understanding and addressing student dropout to enhance retention and persistence, especially in times of crisis. The results and conclusions of this research contribute to informing the institution’s decision-making and the implementation of programs to promote student retention in the Faculty of Engineering at Universidad de la Costa.
