Summary:The present investigation: “Pedagogical strategies to promote reading in fifth grade students of the Educational Institution Fruit of Hope” of the municipality of Galapa, Atlántico, has been carried out with the objective of proposing some pedagogical strategies for the promotion of reading and thus provide a solution to the difficulty presented by students, which is reflected in the low interest in reading and poor academic performance. The methodology of this study is based on a qualitative approach with a Non-Experimental Transectional research design and based on the Post positivist paradigm. The sample consisted of 5 classroom teachers and 16 students of the 5th grade of elementary school. The instrument that was used to collect the data was the structured interview. The pedagogical strategies that are proposed are: "The Roulette of reading" and "I read with my family", as well as some strategies proposed by experts such as Solé and Goodman. These strategies will allow teachers of the Institution to promote students' interest in reading, which will positively influence their academic performance and will serve as a reference to other teachers for future research. As a result of the research, the proposal arises: “Enjoy reading to continue learning”, an effective tool to encourage the pleasure and encouragement of reading for future research.
