Summary: | The school as a space of mediation for the production of knowledge, guides integral formative processes that tend to the quality of education at its different levels. From this perspective, the development of competences in the students, constitutes one of the main purposes and requirements of the system, in such a way that a profile is consolidated to allow the full development of its potentialities. In this referential context, the main purpose of this research is to analyze the relevance of music as a cognitive domain in a didactic mediation processes aimed at the development of communicative competences in basic education. It is based on the thesis that music represents a domain of knowledge capable of generating teaching strategies that contribute to strengthening communication skills. Framed in a rational logical approach and a complementary paradigm, it is conceived a quantitative quality - descriptive - explanatory design, which has two components: theoretical - conceptual and empirical field. The units of analysis are made up of students and teachers of secondary basic education at Institution Educative José Consuegra Higgins, who are treated through techniques such as observation, survey and interview. Among the most relevant results, it can be considered that the necessary efforts to address and develop communicative skills and teaching strategies in the classroom, are not being made, in spite of knowledge about the importance of them. As a conclusion, it is important to emphasize that it is mandatory to point to different strategies that include music as a cognitive domain that helps to develop communicative competences in students to achieve educational quality. |
