Description
Summary:The present study presents an exercise with two variables that have become increasingly relevant in scientific research, such as emotional intelligence (EI onwards) and mental health, this is of a correlational type of cross-sectional design, it is aimed to determine the relationships existing between EI and mental health in university students from the city of Barranquilla, through the application of the TMMS24 (FernándezBerrocal, P, Extremera, 2004), the social welfare scale keyes adapted from (Blanco Amalio y Díaz Darío, 2005), Diener's subjective well-being scale (Luna Bernal et al., 2011) and Ryff's psychological well-being scale (Diìaz et al., 2006). The study will have the participation of 300 students from higher education institutions, aged between 15 and 29 years, because according to the World Health Organization (WHO 2013) this group is the most affected by mental health disorders, and this group will be constituted by women and men. Spearman's coefficient was used for statistical analysis. The results found that there are negative and positive relationships between emotional intelligence and its dimensions (emotional attention, emotional clarity, emotional repair) and mental health (Psychological Well-being, Subjective Well-being and Social Well-being) in university students from the city of Barranquilla.
