Summary:This study investigates the way in which Emotional Intelligence strengthens the academic performance of the students of the Commercial Technical Educational Institution of Sabanagrande, Headquarters N ° 3: María Auxiliadora. For this, the research process is evidenced from the pedagogical work with the design of an intervention plan with emotional intelligence strategies. All of the above was directed from a qualitative methodology taking aspects of action research, focused on the teacher as a reflective professional capable of analyzing aspects of their teaching, achieving a dialogue between theory and what is experienced within the school context, taking as research instruments, participant observation, documentary analysis. From these, a triangulation and a rigorous analysis of the information is made, from which different findings are derived regarding emotional intelligence and the way in which it favors the academic performance of students.
