Summary: | The purpose of the research project is to analyze the reading and writing practices of teachers and students of the on-site and virtual academic programs of the Humanities Department of the Universidad de la Costa. Methodologically, we work with an empirical-analytical paradigm with a mixed approach. A sample of 110 students and 3 teachers from the critical reading and textual construction subjects was taken from a population of 770 students and 22 professors from the Department of Humanities, selected intentionally. The Scale of Teaching Strategies for Meaningful Learning (EEDAS) of Méndez and González (2011) was applied as a data collection instrument. The results of this instrument were analyzed from descriptive statistical procedures. In the same way, an interview with the professors was developed. The findings thrown by interviews were systematized in analysis matrices to be articulated with the statistical data. The results showed that 43% (always) and 38% (Many times) teachers carry out actions to carry out the pedagogical strategies (oral and written production). Likewise, they state that written production is presented with 33% (Always), Oral production with 43% (always) and the use of TIC with 36% (Always), being the summary the most used strategy for Written production, in the same way, interviews allow to determine the need for pedagogical updating and innovation. The conclusions indicate the traditional orientation of the pedagogical approach even with the support of TIC. |
