Description
Summary:A batch study was carried out in which the removal capacity of the Silver Blue hair dye with activated carbon obtained from banana peels was evaluated. This hair dye is classified by its chemical characteristics as an emerging pollutant. The necessary physicochemical characterization was carried out on the coal to establish it as a material that would allow the removal of the AP. All tests with the AP were done using a previously calibrated HACH: DR 3900 spectrophotometer. The absorption spectrum of the AP dye, the calibration curves, the effects of the initial concentration / absorption capacity and likewise, the removal percentages of the AP were obtained, where it is evident that in the more concentrated solutions 9.04% v / v, 9.16% v / v and 8.61% v / v, removal percentages between 85% and 100% were obtained. The above allows to establish that the carbon obtained from ripe banana peels and thermally activated, meets the purposes of removing the emerging pollutant studied.
